One of my friends attempted to fit the contents of a complete apartment into a studio. Winter coats, athletic equipment and an unbelievable number of kitchen appliances all vied against each other on every available area. A single storage locker transformed the entire situation, however, the apartment became usable almost right away.
The cost is not as similar as most people assume, sometimes it differs significantly even on facilities which are within the same short distance. It would be good to call and inquire about offers during the first month or any season offers. Storage companies are extensively motivated to occupy vacant units, and offers are usually given to the ones who just enquire.
The cost is influenced by the sizing decisions. It is costly and widespread to rent more space than is required based on just-in-case. Precisely measuring furniture upfront, putting the boxes one atop the other and using the unit as a spatial puzzle can make a smaller and less expensive alternative expand as a charm.
Security is a good thing whether it is high priced or not. Cheap does not mean insecure. Access codes at the gate, functional cameras and bright premises are reasonable expectations no matter the price range. Go by first impressions, when a facility looks bad, it is most likely that the feeling is right.
People do not realize the extent of damage caused by weather. The moisture distorts books and dilutes cardboard. Wood furniture is curved under heat and electronics is destroyed. Climate-controlled units are slightly more expensive in monthly fees, yet the price is quite small in contrast with the cost of replacing the damaged goods.
The true cost also takes into consideration location. It is also possible that a cheaper facility that is farther away will add a travel time and the cost of fuel used every time it is visited. An adjacent unit, even at a somewhat greater rate often is more cost effective when those expenses are added in.
The distance the space goes is inflicted by packing strategy. Clearly packed containers allow one to see the contents without having to open the packages. Labels are time saving on all visits. Going through a tight aisle in the unit would mean that one can reach the items in the back without rearranging everything in front.
